Griffin reached out a few weeks before his Orange Beach sailboat proposal at Bear Point Harbor.
He told us his big plans to surprise his college sweetheart with a Backbay Sailing Adventures tour around the Orange Beach area and we couldn’t have been more excited!
Griffin reserved the intimate sailboat for his unsuspecting soon-to-be fiancé, Neeley… and the two of us.
We tried to play it cool by acting like we were another couple crashing their sailboat tour date. We brought hats, a large tote bag and cooler to hide our cameras and hung out on the opposite side of the boat near the captain!
Before the tour, we talked about the right moment for Griffin to make his move. We waited (impatiently), watched them close from the other side of the boat and waited for the cue.
As we made our way to the middle of the bay when the sun was just perfect, Griffin was anxiously ready and got down on one knee…
Neeley was in complete shock! The moment was so emotional and had us all tearing up!
Once she realized who we were and that we weren’t just crashing their sailboat tour, we quickly went in for a hug to congratulate them!
As the sailboat continued, we pulled out a bottle of champagne for them to pop and celebrate!
While the sun continued to set, we spent a little extra time getting dreamy portraits, eating Lunchables and cheering them on when she called her mom to tell her the news!
These two are *literally* the sweetest and we can’t wait to celebrate them at their Montgomery, Alabama wedding next fall!
Congrats, Griffin and Neeley — we’re so excited to capture your Orange Beach sailboat proposal!
XOXO, The Johnsons
