Congrats, you’re ENGAGED! 💍 And now it’s time for… engagement photos! ✨

Nic likes to joke that I instantly became a “lefty” overnight! A girl’s gotta show off her diamond, right?! Hopefully you’re enjoying and embracing this season of life as an engaged couple. It goes by too fast!

That’s one of the main reasons we LOVE getting to do engagement sessions with our amazing couples.

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the planning and emotions (especially on the wedding day), that it’s nice to be able to pause and celebrate a bit by capturing this special time!

Here’s a few of our favorite reasons why we *love* photographing engagement photos for our couples!

It’s *actually* happening!

When you first get engaged there are lots of things to figure out like setting a date, selecting vendors and dreaming of our honeymoon. For me, at least in the beginning, nothing made it feel more real than to have photos taken of us for the first time as a couple. We printed them out, found the perfect frames and got to look at them every day.

It’s a time for you to celebrate each other. Celebrate your journey. Celebrate your commitment. And I mean, who doesn’t love a good excuse to put on a new dress and buy a new pair of shoes?! 💃

Get comfy

“We’re so awkward in front of the camera”

“What do I do with my hands?!” 

Same, girl. Same.

Trust us. Nobody thinks they are good in front of the camera. Nobody knows what to do with their hands! That’s literally why you’ve hired us!

Getting your engagement photos done is the perfect time for us to get to know each other. Plus, you can shake out the nerves and get some practice in on some of the exact same poses and actions you’ll be doing on your wedding day!

We try to make it super fun and talk a little bit about your big day between shots. We can’t guarantee there won’t be really bad dad jokes shared.

BUT, we CAN guarantee you’ll walk away feeling like it was way easier than you ever thought it would be!

Let’s be friends

We always tell our couples that when you really think about it, your wedding photographer and videographer are likely going to be with you more than you’re with each other on your wedding day!

They are going to be a part of some super intimate and emotional moments. We often see/hear the most beautiful words you’ll ever say to each other and more than likely cry with you throughout the day!

It’s important that you feel comfortable truly being yourself around your photographer and videographer. Trusting that they have your best interest in mind and really that you just *enjoy* being around them!

You’re going to feel all the feelings on your wedding day. So, you need someone you can trust to be strapped in on that rollercoaster with you. Be your hype-squad, bring you water (or a mimosa!) and keep you looking like your Vogue-iest self!

Save the Dates (and reception pictures)

Many couples send out “Save the Date” cards to their friends and family well in advance of sending out their formal invitations as a little reminder that they’ll need to… save the date!

It’s an informal invitation, or a message to not only let guests know they need to find a hot date but also to officially announce your engagement! And a beautiful shot of one of your engagement photos is the perfect way to let everyone see the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs.!

Also, it’s becoming popular to display your engagement photos at your reception on large canvases or in frames to use them as decor at the wedding reception. We also see lots of custom photo albums made from your engagement photos to be used as a guestbook for your friends and family to sign on their way in! Plus, it makes a great coffee table book for after the wedding!

“If these walls could talk…”

As you begin preparing for your new life as newlyweds, you’re going to potentially be decorating a new space together! Trust us, you can never have enough printed and framed photos of you two around the house.

Your engagement and wedding photos tell your story and reminds you of those good times as the years go on. You’ll look AMAZING in your wedding attire, but sometimes it’s nice to have some variety and see yourselves in more traditional outfits and in a different environment. 

We’re huge advocates for printing your photos! Whether it’s for framed pieces, wall art as a focal piece in your home, or just a keepsake album that you pull out and share with your closest friends and family. We actually still have some of our own engagement photos still hanging in our home today!
