Trees, bees and a whole lot of leaves. Any guesses to where we’re at? When we first talked to Jacob and Amber about what kind of vibe they were wanting for their engagement photos, they mentioned “somewhere rustic.” We knew just the place… Blakeley State Park!
Blakeley has a little bit of everything! There are several beautiful oak trees, open fields, trails and (depending on the time of year) some pretty blooms for a little feminine touch.
This 2,100 acre state park was actually one of the largest towns in Alabama back in the 1800s. It’s also home of the Battle of Fort Blakeley — the largest Civil War battle fought in Alabama.
As you navigate throughout the property, you’ll see quite a few war remnants and signage to learn about the history of this land. Thankfully, we’re your built-in tour guide haha!
We started at our first tree of significance, just past the Confederate Line. This large oak tree is so large and has the most beautiful branches. But before we were headed to our next location, we noticed the beautiful azalea bushes that were a MUST-have! We laughed over dogs and shared the same love for Italian food.
When you stop and think, it’s interesting to visualize what happened well over 200 years ago as we walk along the roads and ask our couples to take a spin for the camera!
We loved getting to spend some quality time with the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. for their Blakeley State Park engagement photos. Can’t wait for their big day at Oak Hollow Farm this fall!
